July 2016 marked a special event in the Rwanda Union Mission. Twenty individuals, including men, women, and young people, graduated from a special intensive course on natural medicine. The yearlong program focused on natural treatments using herbs and nature-based medicines to treat illnesses.
Herbalism is widely used and accepted in Rwanda. By studying and soaking up the abundant knowledge given to Reformers through the health reform, our brethren are able to cater to the needs of their communities as well as to witness to them and tell them of the Great Physician. Just as Jesus alleviated physical suffering and then told people of the Gospel, these brethren will be able to open the doors for the spiritual message through their efforts to bring health to their neighbourhoods.
This year’s course came to an end this July, but a new term will begin in January. Many students are eagerly enrolling and anticipating their upcoming classes. May the Lord bless the health work in Rwanda, that the teachers and students give their best to the Lord in order to reach many souls with physical and spiritual health.
