“A cheerful heart is good medicine, but a crushed spirit dries up the bones.”

Proverbs 17:22

In a world increasingly focused on physical health yet often neglectful of the soul’s needs, the brothers and sisters of the “Eben-Ezer” Church in Bucov, with the support of the Muntenia Conference and the Romanian Union, found a special opportunity to host the second edition of the SDARM Medical Professionals’ Convention, held from March 28–30.

The event brought together dozens of doctors, residents, medical students, nurses, and pharmacists who share a passion for integrating faith into medical science and practice.

“Every medical worker, whether they acknowledge it or not, is responsible not only for the bodies of their patients but also for their souls. The Lord expects far more from us than we often offer. Every physician should be a devoted and intelligent medical missionary, well-versed both in Heaven’s remedy for the soul afflicted by sin, and in the science of healing the body.” — LMM 31.1

Friday evening’s program was led by Sisters Andra Bora and Ramona Mocanu, who delivered insightful presentations titled “The Role of the Physician in Inner Peace” and “I’ve Never Seen Anything Like This”. These talks were followed by interactive Q&A sessions that engaged the audience deeply.

As Psalm 100:4 encourages us, “Enter His gates with thanksgiving and His courts with praise; give thanks to Him and bless His name,” Sabbath morning’s worship service began with instrumental hymns, performed by the Muntenia Orchestra under the direction of Alexia Mocanu. The program continued with a thoughtful study and discussion of the Sabbath School lesson: “Jesus Feeds the Multitude.”

Brother Emil Barbu and Sister Cornelia Dăniloaea led the sermon service, which revolved around profound themes such as “Complete Healing and Integrative Medicine”.

The convention also featured a powerful moment of praise and worship dedicated to God. After the Sabbath closed on Saturday evening, participants joined various breakout workshops, exploring relevant topics designed specifically for those working in the medical field.

Sunday morning found us once again gathered in the house of prayer, closing the event with one final study: “A Holistic Perspective on Healing,” presented by Brothers Adonis Bora and Lucian Condrache.

We were filled with joy to see that distance was no barrier—thanks to online streaming, thousands of brothers and sisters from across the country and around the world were able to join us. Though not physically present, many felt spiritually connected, brought near through the blessing of technology.

“In perfect harmony with the work of preaching the Gospel, the work of health reform will reveal the power God has granted it. Under the influence of the Gospel, great reforms will be accomplished through medical missionary work.” — LMM 259.1

We give thanks to God for His grace, which made it possible to successfully complete this second edition of the Convention. We continue to pray that He watches over each one of us. With hearts full of hope and longing, we look forward to meeting again—ready to worship, eager to grow, and joyful to share new experiences and insights.
