Lobito, Angola—From August 10–16, the brethren in Lobito welcomed a very special week of musical education. The event brought together students and teachers from several countries with one shared purpose: to develop musical talents and use them to honor God. Over 150 students from Angola, Zambia, Malawi, and Zimbabwe received musical instruments through voluntary donations and participated in classes in music theory, piano, flute, violin, cello, clarinet, and guitar.
The classes were led by a team of teachers from Peru, Brazil, and Angola. From Peru, Professor Renato Quispe participated in the project, while Brazil was represented by Bianca Devai, Luís Henrique Melo, Jandra Naiara, and Guilherme Duarte. From Angola, Professor Enoque Dala joined the teaching team, contributing to the development of local musical education.
Throughout the week, students had the opportunity to learn, practice, and discover new abilities. During the afternoon, they presented their “first fruits” to God, sharing what they had learned through music and demonstrating the progress they had made during the week.
The weekend concluded with a Music Conference, bringing together students and musical groups from across Angola. Numerous choirs and musical groups participated, creating a beautiful celebration of music and worship that was attended by more than 1,600 people.
The instruments donated during the project will continue to serve a greater purpose beyond this special week. They will be used to support the development of music in Angola, helping students continue learning, growing, and using their talents in service to God and their communities.
This project was made possible through the joint efforts of the Music, Welfare, and Stewardship Departments, showing what can happen when different ministries work together toward the same purpose: awakening talents, planting hope, and building a stronger future through music.
