Dear Reform Movement family around the world,

May the peace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with each one of you and your respective families.

“If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land,” 2 Chronicles 7:14.

Through this letter we invite all our churches to join us for a special Week of Prayer to be held from August 21-30, 2020, with the theme “Our Blessed Hope”.

We are living in perilous times, and, according to prophecy, more troubles are about to come upon this world. We know the church will be affected by the upcoming turmoil.

“This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come,” 2 Timothy 3:1.

Some of our brethren are sick, and some have recently died; travel for missionary work has been hindered, church gatherings are limited in some places and forbidden in others.

Therefore, following the example of God’s church in the past when facing difficult times, we want to unite in special sessions of prayers, interceding for those who are sick and mourning.

It is time to seek, with all our hearts, the Source of our strength that we may be filled with the Holy Spirit, so in the midst of trials and tribulations we may continue “Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ,” Titus 2:13.

We need to be reminded by the Holy Spirit that despite all the attacks of the enemy towards God’s church, we have nothing to fear as God is in control:

“We have nothing to fear for the future, except as we shall forget the way the Lord has led us, and His teaching in our past history,” Life’s Sketches, p. 196.

“The LORD also will be a refuge for the oppressed, a refuge in times of trouble,” Psalm 9:9.

As supporting material for the churches during this special Week of Prayer, we are recording seven sermons in English with the following topics and speakers:

Hope in Time of Crisis and Injustice – Brother David Zic (Education Department)

Friday,  August 21, 7pm (ET) – YouTube

Our Hope of Salvation – Brother Davi P. Silva (Sabbath School Department)

The Family: A Beacon of Hope – Brother Rolly Dumaguit (Family Department)

Youth: Hope for the Future – Brother Adrian Finaru (Youth Department)

In Heavenly Places – Brother Peter Lausevic (North American Regional Secretary) Sunday, August 30, 7pm (ET) – YouTube

These sermons will be streamed on Facebook and YouTube at the dates and times specified above. They will also be offered as support for the churches, so the brethren who are able to meet in church can watch these videos together and the churches who are not able to meet can either encourage their members to watch these videos on the links which we will soon provide or broadcast these sermons through their local media or any platform they are using to meet online. (If your church has not received the WOP materials, please contact your Regional Secretary.)

However, the churches may feel free to have their own speakers as well. The important thing is that every church find a way to meet in person or online, and that we all be united in prayer during these days seeking the Lord in a special way.

If your church has already planned another event for this period, we still encourage you to join us in prayer during this time even if the topics of your meetings differ from the ones proposed for the Week of Prayer.

May God continue taking care of you and your loved ones.

May the name of God be glorified, and His people blessed.

Your brother in The Blessed Hope,

Eli Tenorio, GC President,

On behalf of the General Conference Council
