Cape Town, South Africa—The Cape Field Conference hosted its Autumn Camp Meeting in Cape Town from April 3-6. During this time of the year, the children and youth are at home for the school holidays, making it an ideal time for a camp meeting.
The theme for the gathering was, “Great is Thy Faithfulness” with the focus on, “Our faith must grasp the eternal” The Christians Strength, 132. Brethren participated from across South Africa, some traveling over 1,200 miles (± 2,000km) to be present. Participants ranged in ages from children to the young at heart.
This event was also special because it had been over ten years since some members who now form the Cape Field Conference had been in Cape Town.
After a blessed Sabbath full of special messages, the youth gathered around the campfire in the evening to discuss issues affecting them and to decide the focus of the youth department for the rest of this year.
On Sunday, the Welfare Department Outreach Programme once again served the community, distributing a delicious vegetable soup with bread, clothing, and pamphlets.
We are truly grateful to the Lord for the souls who came for help, and we have faith that their lives were touched in some way.
A common phrase mentioned as we concluded the camp meeting was, “It was too short”. Indeed, four days went by quickly. May God continue to bless everyone, and we look forward to having another camp meeting soon.
