Sabbath School Department

“The Sabbath school should be one of the greatest instrumentalities, and the most effectual, in bringing souls to Christ.” CSW 10.

The purpose of the Sabbath School Department is to improve the Sabbath school as a missionary and educational activity of the church. The Department Director works closely with the Missionary Department in order to efficiently utilize the workforce—all members of the Sabbath school—for evangelistic outreach purposes.

The Sabbath School Department also provides for the systematic study of the Bible through pamphlet-sized textbooks adapted for all ages. The Sabbath Bible Lesson is the official textbook for the adult Sabbath School Department to provide a worldwide understanding of our doctrinal beliefs and maintain the unity of the faith. It is designed to study various issues relative to Christian living, doctrinal understanding, prophecy, as well as studying entire books of the Bible. These lessons are prepared years in advance to guarantee a timely publication.

Other material prepared by the department includes the Youth Explorer, Junior Searcher (ages 9-12), and the Children’s Treasures (ages 4-8), as well as supporting material for teachers.

The Sabbath School Department also has other responsibilities including the instruction of Sabbath School teachers through seminars and additional material, compiling statistics, and receiving and organizing the First Sabbath Offering applications.
