Sabbath Bible Lessons

“God With Us”

 <<    >>

Foreword

The lessons for this quarter, July through September, under the title “God With Us,” are a continuation of the two previous quarterlies.

During the first part of this year we learned about Christ with the Father formulating the plan of salvation, Christ with the patriarchs, Christ with Moses; Christ making a covenant with Israel; Christ present with His people in the sanctuary; Christ speaking to them through the prophets, and so forth.

There is much we need to realize about the character of our Creator and what He expects from us. He has systematically prepared a way by which we can understand the marvelous plan by which He reestablishes a close relationship with any and all who earnestly seek Him. As we have studied so far this year, the key to this is found in the sanctuary service. “Thy way, O God, is in the sanctuary: who is so great a God as our God?” (Psalm 77:13).

“God’s people, whom He calls His peculiar treasure, were privileged with a twofold system of law; the moral and the ceremonial. The one, pointing back to creation to keep in remembrance the living God who made the world, whose claims are binding upon all men in every dispensation, and which will exist through all time and eternity. The other, given because of man’s transgression of the moral law, the obedience to which consisted in sacrifices and offerings pointing to the future redemption.”—The SDA Bible Commentary [E. G. White Comments], vol. 6, p. 1094.

During this third quarter we will learn about Christ when He took on human flesh and lived on earth as man. As a human representation of God, “the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth” (John 1:14).

When Christ was about to depart from this world, He entrusted His disciples with the following commission:

“Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.” “Go ye therefore, and teach all nations . . . to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you” (Mark 16:15; Matthew 28:19, 20).

“The Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you” (John 14:26).

And, immediately before His ascension, He gave the assurance, “Lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world” (Matthew 28:20).

May these lessons draw us closer to Christ and bring blessings to our Sabbath School students around the world!
