The second day of the session began with morning worship, led by Brother Petru Mangul, the outgoing Second Vice-President of the General Conference. The topic was “Equality of Believers in Christ.” He emphasized that the key to success in bringing the knowledge of Jesus (showing Jesus to the world), lies in our unity with Him.
At 8:30 a.m., the session resumed with a short message from Brother Eli Tenorio as he laid down his office as General Conference President. He expressed his gratitude to the Lord and the brethren for the blessings and work accomplished in the last term. He appealed to the delegation:
“Be steadfast, immovable, knowing that your labor is not in vain in the Lord. Continue fulfilling your call, be united, continue to shine as a beacon wherever the Lord may lead you. Our roles may change, but my love for the church family will never cease. May God guide and keep you as you continue this beautiful work on behalf of the work of the Lord. With gratitude and love, I lay down my office as General Conference President.”
At this time, Brother Tenorio turned to the delegates at large and had a heart-to-heart conversation with them. He expressed his sincere gratitude to each one for their work and dedication during this last term and his prayer that God will continue blessing them, their families, and their work.
The session continued with the election of the Temporary Secretary. Brother Peter Lausevic was chosen to fill this important role. Following the election, Brother David Zic, the Chairman of the Session, addressed the delegates with words of gratitude and reflection.
He expressed a heartfelt appreciation for the contribution of Brother A.C. Sas during last year’s Week of Prayer readings, highlighting the impact of his touching appeal—a message dedicated to the delegates of the 24th General Conference Session. He reminded everyone of the call to come to the session emptied of self, seeking to be filled with the Holy Spirit and to embrace unity in Christ. If we, as delegates, heed this call, he encouraged, we will be prepared to receive the latter rain.
These words served as a moving reminder of the spiritual purpose that binds us together in service.
All the temporary committees for this session were successfully elected, namely the Nominating, Doctrinal, Bylaws, Finance, Bulletin, and Plans Committees. Brother Davi Paes Silva was elected as the Chair of the Plans Committee, with Brother Eli Tenorio appointed as its Secretary.
Brother Silva proposed that the members of the Plans Committee be divided into smaller groups to focus on specific areas. As a result, the following temporary committees were formed: the Children’s Ministry, Evangelism, Media, Youth, Education, Welfare, and Music. Each group worked diligently to plan and develop proposals for the Plans Committee’s consideration.
The day concluded with an evening devotional presented by Brother Liviu Tudoriu, the outgoing General Conference Secretary. His message, titled “Linked in a Common Brotherhood,” was inspiring and thought-provoking.
We are deeply grateful for another productive and blessed day here in Colombia, as the delegation continues to work together in unity and purpose.
