[This devotional was originally written in Portuguese. In order to promote sharing of these inspiring messages, we have published it both in its original language and English (Devotional: Abandoned).]

In 2010, Sister Leoni's daughter suffered a stroke, which eventually left her paralyzed. However, she soon learned that God never truly abandons His children.

“For a small moment have I forsaken thee; but with great mercies will I gather thee.” Isaiah 54:7

Just about everyone, at some point in his or her life, has endured the feeling of abandonment, perhaps by one’s parents, by one’s children or spouse, by friends, or even abandonment by God. We feel rejected, despised, in despair and helpless.

On October 8, 2010 my 19 year-old daughter, Vivian Daiany, experienced a stroke when five veins in her head were obstructed and provoked a strong convulsion.

In continuation of this month's heart disease awareness series, let's consider how blood pressure, cholesterol, and diabetes affect our hearts.

In continuation of this month's heart disease awareness series, let's remember what we talked about last week. We considered how cardiovascular disease refers to a set of diseases that compromise the heart beat or blood flow, and that several diseases may leave the heart unable to pump blood efficiently. Last week we talked about the effects of inflammation, and how it leads to heart disease. This week, let's consider how blood pressure, cholesterol, and diabetes affect our hearts.

New Zealand
In 2015, the brethren in New Zealand held a camp meeting for the youth in Waihi Beach.

Waihi Beach is the jewel in the crown of the Southern Coromandel and Bay of Plenty. It offers nine kilometres of sweeping white sand with one of the safest surf breaks in New Zealand. It brings people back each summer to just relax or enjoy activities out on the water or along our coastline and bush.

In one of these particular areas, we held the camp meeting for the young people, for our friends and brethren. The date was set for October 6-11, 2015, and preparations were made to organise the program. The theme for this camp meeting was “The Challenge Camp”.

South Africa
Over the course of the last two months of 2015, several meetings were held in the South African Field Conference.

On November 20–22, 2015, Brother Peter Lausevic visited the Port Elizabeth Church in the Eastern Cape Province. This meeting was attended by church members from the Eastern and Western Cape provinces. Church members in this area invited friends, family members, former church members, and neighbors to this special event. The result was a total attendance of 39 individuals on Friday evening, and 104 during the Sabbath, including visitors from the community.
