A youth conference was held in Foron, Nigeria in early April of 2018.

FORON, NIGERIA—At the beginning of April 2018, a youth convention was held in Foron, Nigeria. The event occurred from April 1 to April 8, 2018. Youth came from the East and Central Missions of the Seventh Day Adventist Reform Movement in Nigeria.

 

The theme of the event was "Being Productive Youth in Christ". Meetings were held from 4pm-6pm daily. Brother John Bosco, GC Regional Secretary for Northern Africa, was present to speak at the event, along with Brother Tony Maraizu, Brother Mark Rashak, Brother John Anthony, and Brother Hosea Gyang.

When we think of the phrase “go and tell”, most often we think of it as a command to tell “others” about Jesus. However, the rest of that sentence says “…[tell] His disciples”.

“And go quickly, and tell His disciples that He is risen from the dead…” Matthew 28:5.

 

“Christ's first work on earth after His resurrection was to convince His disciples of His undiminished love and tender regard for them. To give them proof that He was their living Saviour, that He had broken the fetters of the tomb, and could no longer be held by the enemy death;” (The Desire of Ages, p. 793).

Have you ever been so blinded by tears that you did not recognize the voice of Jesus? Have you ever experienced sorrow so deep that you could not feel Him near you?

Have you ever wondered what that Sabbath was like? The Sabbath right after the crucifixion. How confused, sad, worn, and turmoiled the disciples must have been. Perhaps their church services were canceled that weekend. Perhaps they went through the motions, trying to be comforted by each other’s presence.

 

Luke simply says, “And they returned, … and rested the Sabbath day according to the commandment,” Luke 23:56.

On March 29-April 1, 2018, a national youth convention was held in the South Union of Brazil, at the church property in Itu, São Paulo.

On March 29-April 1, 2018, a national youth convention was held in the South Union of Brazil, at the church property in Itu, São Paulo.

 

The youth convention was themed "The Best Things in Life". Guest lecturers included Brother Eli Tenorio (GC Secretary), Brother Rodney Martins (guest speaker), and several speakers from all over Brazil. Approximately 600 individuals registered and attended the event, and about 700 were present for the weekend meetings. Attendees came from all over Brazil, as well as neighboring countries, many arriving in buses after long trips.
