Heart disease is the number one killer in most countries in the Western Hemisphere. Though, statistically, we know heart disease affects women and men equally, only about 13% of women believe it is a personal threat to them. While 1 in 31 American women die from breast cancer each year, 1 in 3 dies of heart disease. It’s time to spread awareness regarding women’s risk for heart disease and take responsibility for mitigating our individual risk through healthy lifestyle changes.
TRUJILLO, PERU—The XXIII National Youth Convention of the SDARM Church in Peru was held from February 6-10, 2018, in the city of Trujillo, north of the capital of Lima.
Brethren came from all over the Peruvian Union to attend the event. The meetings were held in the auditorium of a school in San Juan during the first two days. The other three days the meetings were held in the Gran Chimú Coliseum, the largest venue in the city.
The controversy between Jesus and the Pharisees concerning the Sabbath never involved the question whether or not the Sabbath should be observed. The discussion was only over the question as to how the Sabbath was to be kept. Jesus put away all unnecessary human traditions and taught "lawful" Sabbath-keeping by giving us an example. Luke 4:16; Matthew 12:1-12; Luke 13:10-17; John 5:2-11; 7:22, 23. By teaching correct Sabbath-keeping according to the law, Christ confirmed the sacred validity of the Sabbath commandment.
Cardiovascular disease (CVD) is the leading cause of death in the United States and one of the leading causes of death worldwide. About 610,000 people die of heart disease in the United States every year, 370,000 of which die from coronary artery disease (CDC).
Heart disease is a costly illness and vast amounts of money, procedures, and medications allocated to this illness will not eradicate its prevalence. The key to optimizing our chances against this disease is through prevention, education, and lifestyle modification.
