Novi Sad

Novi Sad is a large industrial and financial center of the Serbian economy. It is a university town bustling with scientific, medical and cultural activity, as well as serving a political and administrative center of the Province of Vojvodina. This historic city was founded in 1694 and has long been a center of Serbian culture, which is why it was named the "Serbian Athens."

Novi Sad is located in northern Serbia on the banks of the Danube River. It has a continental climate and four seasons. The city’s population is around 400,000—making it the second largest city in Serbia. The majority of Novi Sad’s citizens are Serbs (75.50%), the largest national minority are the Hungarians, with another 20 nationalities living in the city. The city’s diverse population includes a variety of cultures and religions.

There are about two dozen Christian churches in Novi Sad, Orthodox, Protestant, Catholic and Greek Catholic besides Jewish synagogues and Islamic mosques. Protestantism, which was originally practiced among the Slovaks, Germans and Hungarians, over time spread among the Serbs. Now we have Seventh-day Baptists, Nazarenes, Methodists, Pentecostals, Jehovah's Witnesses and Mormons in the city. Our Seventh Day Adventist Reform church has been in existence there since 1936. Due to this diversity of cultures and religions in Novi Sad, prejudice is less pronounced here than in other parts of Serbia.

Today, the city of Novi Sad has great potential for us because we now have a new church and health education center there. Our facility can accommodate about 150 visitors. We have been performing health outreaches in this city continuously for the past two decades. Our health lectures are well organized, very well attended and well known in the community.
